Our Joint Christening

Our Joint Christening

My sister Sarah had a baby four months before me so her and I decided to have a joint christening. Amelia wore a little faux fur shawl and a tulle dress. Theodore looked incredibly handsome in a little white satin baby grow and waist coat.

My Outfit

I was recommended a boutique in Athlone called Olivia Danielle that specialize in occasion wear. It’s such a hidden gem. A family run business for many generations and they have the most incredible taste and stunning outfits.

It was hard to pick but after trying on almost everything in the store, I went with a satin pink number. It was perfect for the day, flattering and feminine yet still covered up on the arms and the waist was just above the tummy so I didn’t have to worry about sucking in all day. And it had pockets! It retails for 145 euro and they also do online shopping. (www.oliviadanielle.com and instagram @oliviadanielleathlone_)

The Ceremony

As it was a joint christening we only had relatives there as we had to keep the numbers down. It was an intimate mass in Mount Argus, Harold’s Cross with the best priest in town that we’ve known for years, Father Joe Kennedy. He is so funny, kindhearted, very captivating sermons and he has a Harley Davidson motorcycle! What a bad ass! He even had the water heated before pouring it on the babies heads. So thoughtful. 🙏

Our photographer on the day was Camilla Lee who also took photos of myself and Rob when I was 8 months pregnant. She’s an amazing photographer and a lovely person. As you can see by these photos she really captured some gorgeous moments. I actually found her on Instagram which is the great thing about social media. It’s a fantastic platform for creatives like photographers and make-up artists etc. Her Instagram name is @camilaleephotography and her website is www.camilaleephotography.com.

We then had a family dinner and the festivities carried on till much later than expected. Such a celebration!

I would say I’m more spiritual than religious but I do love the religious celebrations that bring family and friends together. I think that there is a fantastic message at a christening, blessing the babies and welcoming them into the world.

All I pray is that Theo and Amelia have a happy and healthy future. What more can you want.
